Cherry: 5 Pipe Stand

On this piece I worked backwards. I had the base and wanted something for the stand. I was in a shaping mood and thought I’d do a freehand. Everything works on this piece. The dimensions are dramatic and there is plenty of organic visual movement. Nice sculptured flowing look. Very “arty” piece. Also, shaping a free hand piece is a really enjoyable way to make a stand. There is no limit to what you can do.

Base: Joined Poplar, Mahogany, Paduak, Cherry and Black Lacquer over Maple
